• Service Coordinator Training

  All new service coordinators must complete the required training, EI Fundamentals, within 90 days of their hiring date. Sign up for the training through the Professional Development Information System (PDIS), CDEC’s learning management system. See the EI Fundamentals User Guide for registration and course information.

  The telehealth training is encouraged for all early intervention staff, including service coordinators, and is available in the PDIS. The course information will support all early intervention professionals with the knowledge to better support families and providers in accessing telehealth services.  More telehealth resources can be found in the EI Colorado Knowledge Management System.

  All current and prospective early intervention providers should review the Provider Personnel Standards that outline the training and qualifications that providers should have. 

  All new EI providers must complete the required training, EI Provider Training, before billing for services. Sign up for the training through the Professional Development Information System (PDIS), CDEC’s learning management system. See the EI Provider Training User Guide for registration and course information.

  The telehealth training is required for all early intervention providers who will use telehealth to deliver Early Intervention Colorado services and is available in the PDIS.   • Required Training

  Requesting EI Evaluator Approval for Primary Area of Concern:
  Issued to evaluators with additional and comprehensive knowledge and experience in areas outside of their discipline in order to allow them to evaluate in additional areas when it is the primary area of concern. This approval does not expire. 
  
  Approval for an evaluator is different from a waiver for a provider. View the EI Colorado Provider Personnel Standards and Waivers.

  • Upload supporting documentation into Provider Portal 

  • Submit an approval request via the Evaluation Approval Request Form

  • Assure that the evaluator operating with an evaluator approval completes all required information in the EI Provider Portal

  • The evaluator and Evaluation Entity will be notified via email of the approval 

  • Both the evaluator and the Evaluation Entity should save a copy of the email

  • Upload a screenshot or PDF of the email to the Provider Portal (upload to “Requests” and title the document “Evaluator Approval Email”)

  Vision Screening Training
  There are three training modules for providers conducting vision screenings for Early Intervention Colorado evaluations:

  • Vision Screening Parent Questionnaire 2022
  • Vision Screening & Developmental Assessment    
  • Objective Testing

  For providers that are new to Early Intervention Colorado, the Vision Screening Parent Questionnaire 2022 training is 90-minutes. The Vision Screening Parent Questionnaire 2022 training is available as a 60-minute refresher for providers who successfully completed the training in 2020-21.

• Extended Part C Option Training and Information
  For the year 2026, parents whose children turn three between May 1, 2026 and the beginning of the 2026 school year, and meet the requirements for eligibility, may choose for their child to participate in the Extended Part C Option for the spring and summer of 2026.

• Family Rights and Procedural Safeguards in Early Intervention

  Families involved with the EI Colorado program have rights and procedural safeguards under the federal law to protect them. Families must be informed of these rights and procedural safeguards throughout their time in the EI Colorado program so they can have an active role in the EI Colorado services provided to their family.

• Global Outcomes Resources

  Colorado has a statewide system that meets the reporting requirements for child and family outcomes. Colorado reports outcomes data in the Annual Performance Report (APR) submitted to the federal Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) each Spring. 

  For child outcomes, the Early Intervention Colorado Program measures and reports the percent of infants and toddlers with Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) who demonstrate:

  a) Positive social-emotional skills (including social relationships)

  b) Acquisition and use of knowledge and skills (including early language/communication) and

  c) Use of appropriate behaviors to meet their needs

  For family outcomes, the Early Intervention Colorado Program measures and reports the percent of families who report that participating in early intervention services has helped the family:

  a) Know their rights

  b) Effectively communicate their children's needs, and

  c) Help their children develop and learn
